My Tried & True Maternity Wear Pieces
Ahh, maternity wear. One of the most dreadful topics of maternity. Some women swear by actual maternity pieces, and others swear they will never own a piece of maternity clothing, even if it kills them. Here’s the thing (and in bold for emphasis):
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing maternity clothing.
Since this is my first pregnancy, I really had no idea what to expect. For reference (because I know you are probably going to wonder), I am 4’ 11” (petite AF) and clocked in at a whopping 127 lbs. prior to pregnancy. I ended up gaining 40 lbs, 5 lbs. over what is recommended, whoops!
Through the past 9 months, I ended up buying a lot of clothes - on purpose, but not.
For the most part, I ended up buying things that had *a little* wiggle room, thinking it would fit me until the very end. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for about 90% of what I had/bought. There were, however, some pieces that I was able to wear comfortably throughout my entire pregnancy, and they’re all listed here. Keep in mind that by the time you are reading this, some of these items may be out of stock, but you can always check Poshmark or look for something similar if you’re interested. Happy maternity wear shopping!
Alo Yoga High-Waist Ribbed Whisper Pant
Price: $64 (Originally $108)
My Size: Small
Prior to pregnancy, this pair of lounge pants was one of my absolute favorites. They are comfy, soft, and loose. I have them in a size small and they still fit like a charm at 37 weeks pregnant, with even more room if I need it!
Right now, they’re on sale for 50% off, but it may be because they’re going out of season, so if you want these bad boys you may have to search Poshmark. Or, find a comparable pair on Alo.
Lululemon Align Ribbed High-Rise Pant 25
”
Price: $118
My Size: 8
Truth be told, I didn’t have these throughout my entire pregnancy. I bought them recently in my third trimester. BUT hear me out. I already have two pairs of Lululemon’s Align leggings (Size 4) and they were fitting me just fine, until they weren’t! When I went for the hunt to buy a bigger pair at my local Lulu, I ended up finding these and fell. in. love. Aligns, but ribbed! I would have gotten them in a Size 6, but they were out so I got the Size 8 and they are a dream to me. So much so, I really wish I would have bought them earlier!
Pretty Little Thing Seamless Mini Gym Unitard
Price: $11 (Originally $38)
My Size: Medium
The way I added these to my cart so fast! I bought this in oatmeal and black and have not regretted it one bit. It’s also fashionable, comfortable and supportive throughout. Not only that, it also has built in padding/liners for the twins, so you don’t have to wear an uncomfortable bra! I paid something ridiculous like $15, but I honestly would have paid way more for these. 100% these were my go to. I tried, without even trying.
Colsie Womens Reversible Ribbed Bralette from Target
Price: $4.90 (Originally $7)
My Size: Medium
Yes, something ribbed once again! I think it’s just flattering for me, which is why I tend to gravitate towards it. Anyway, haha, I bought this bralette in black at Target when I was mid-way through my pregnancy. I ended up buying a second bra in black, and loved it so much I ended up getting it in red too! On top of being reversible, they are very comfortable for the girls! It’s supportive, but not so much so you end up with that NEED TO TAKE MY BRA OFF feeling. Bonus that you can tuck your shirts and sweaters into it to show off that cute bump!
A New Day Womens Sleeveless Ruched Knit Dress
Price: $21.25 (Originally $25)
My Size: Medium
I saw this on the rack at Target and walked past it, but picked it up in the end. I am so glad I did! I would have bought it in other colors if I could have found it locally (bought this while visiting my parents). I have worn this dress almost every single week into the office and even just out and about town running errands or going out for dinner. It has worked throughout my entire baby bump and still has so much more room for stretching. I probably could have gotten a small, but the medium fits perfect and is still comfortable despite the big ol’ belly!
Old Navy Rib-Knit Midi Shift Dress
Price: $39.99
My Size: Medium
Should I hide in shame about this ribbed clothing obsession now, or later? LOL! Another one of my go-tos throughout has been this dress. Like the sleeveless dress from Target, this dress was perfect for dressing up and down so I could wear it to work or out running errands. Another dress I bought midway through pregnancy that has grown with me!
Ingrid Maternity by Ingrid & Isabel™ Active Maternity Bike Shorts
Price: $24.99
My Size: Medium
Another truth be told… I did buy these and I do love them, I wore a LOT of different brand black biker shorts throughout my pregnancy. I listed these specifically, because these are the only ones (since they are maternity) that lasted me the entire time. Of all the shorts I now own, these are the only ones that still fit in 3rd trimester, so I am featuring them. I felt like Biker shorts were just an easy thing to wear for running errands or lounging because they provided me with much needed support and were comfortable. Other brands of shorts I bought and loved for a time include: Aerie, H&M and Old Navy.
