Month Seven: Trying to Conceive Baby #2 - Part 1

If you read my last blog, you’d know I was hopeful I’d get a BFP since my temperature chart was trending in just the right direction… Well, unfortunately for me the pregnancy test at 11DPO was negative and at 13DPO, Aunt Flo quietly (and I mean quietly) showed up! I thought I was spotting and was potentially having implantation bleeding, that’s how light the start of my period was.

Nevertheless, we’re moving on to Month Seven of TTC Baby Two.

Now what?

If you remember from my earlier blog, we did get the ball rolling at the Fertility Institute. Here’s what’s happened since the start of my cycle on Wednesday, February 26th:

  • Wednesday, February 26th
I had very light bleeding (pink) so I threw on some period panties and went to sleep!

  • Thursday, February 27th
Woke up, still nothing in my underwear, but I messaged our Fertility Clinic (per their instructions) to let them know I was sure my period was going to start today. They replied and said to let them know when it was “full flow” versus whatever I had the night before. When I got out of bed this morning and used the bathroom, I was indeed full flow, so I messaged them right away to let them know. Here’s what they instructed:

    • Saturday, March 1st - I am to head to my nearest Clinical Labs and get all my bloodwork done (here we go 100 vials later… JK - but I am doing a separate blog on this).

    • Sunday, March 2nd - Begin taking birth control to be ready for testing (Hysterosalpingography, HSG) on March 14th.

A lot of people have asked me why do you have to take birth control? Aren’t you trying to get pregnant?

And you might be wondering the same thing. The answer is YES, I am clearly trying to get pregnant. ☻ However, because we live on Hawaiʻi Island and not Oʻahu, I cannot go into their offices and have all of our testing done (salpingogram, etc). This is especially important for me since they’ve already found uterine polyps (which do tend to return), AND I had a C-section with my last pregnancy; they want to check for scar tissue. To do this, they want my lining to be thin, but as you know, your line thickens throughout your cycle to be ready for implantation. To combat this and keep my lining thin, I have to go on birth control. BOO!

So my next steps? Start taking birth control and work with my acupuncturist on a game plan. Stay tuned!
